Menus are working perfectly. Uli's right in every way. First, he is right in the technical part that WM and menus don't interfere. Second, he is right not running to "fix awesome" at your first call. Awesome is the system for technically advanced users who do not afraid to solve problems, which includes investigating an issue thoroughly instead of spamming the bug tracker with messages that are most likely to have the same root (all of them are Java-related).
