can't force pidgin to stick to a tag

Hi,

I am trying to force pidgin to open only on the "messages" tag. I am using this 
code:
["Pidgin"] = { screen = 1, tag = "messages" },
["Buddy List"] = { screen = 1, tag = "messages" },
but no matter what pidgin starts on the current tag :(

What am I doing wrong ?

awesome 3.3.2 but I couldn't make it work in 3.2.1 either.
