Hi Diego,
It was quite confusing to find out that:
1. The patches need to be appplied in a correct order (jpeg, then gif,
and finally png.) It's OK. However it would be great to see the complete
instructions how to apply the patches next time.
2. The first-to-be-applied patch (external-jpeg-splash.patch) contains
some code that DOES NOT present in the current OpenJDK source code (the
EXTERNAL_ZLIB etc.) and therefore the patch cannot be applied.
Could you please prepare some "clean" patches and send them? Thanks in
advance!

My SCA was accepted last night (in my timezone at least), so I suppose
it's good to go now.
I'm attaching the last revisions of the patches for completeness; the
jpeg version only allows external linking of splashscreen and doesn't
touch the jni stuff that requires the modified version.
