Mabel,
Your issue may be that the number of inventory transactions have increased so the "Close" process takes longer to run. Check to see that the user who is logged on and running the close is not set to timeout automatically after a set time without activity. In which case Axapta will disconnect from the database. This option is found under "User options" automatic shutdown.
Set the user to 0 then try the close again.
