Brandon,
open AOT, expand Data Dictionary, last item is Table Collections. Right click on Table Collections and select New Table Colection.
Right-click on Tables and select Open New Window. Drag&Drop the tables to your table collection, save, done.
Andrea

Andrea (all),

 On to Table Collections....

I have the Dev Module Installed, and have Admin Level access to everything.

Where would I get started on creating a Table Collection in Axapta?

thanks,
Brandon

Hi Brandon, as someone already told you, I don't know a direct tool to accomplish it. What I sent you is in the "spirit" of active directory, meaning that with a full integration you don't need export/import and manually operate for every little change.
Anyway, if you have a well defined export from AD, you may create a new definition group (Administration, Periodic, Data Import/Export) including only EMPLTABLE table, a few parameters and the required fields with their own setup (tab Preview). But I'm sorry I never did it so don't blame on me if it doesn't work. Please tell us if you succeed :-)

Andrea -

The Document you sent me gives me some insight as to taking a given User ID and then using it to retrieve employee information...

But my real goal, is to have a Utility that can take our given AD user's and import them into Axapta and users, and also create employee records at the same time.

Do you know of any code, or utility than can do this? Thanks for your help!

-Brandon

Hi Brandon,
I can help you on points 2 and 3.
For number 1, look at the atached document: it comes from the Axapta installation CD.
For number 2, the answer is yes. Table collections exist and can be created at any time using the AOT and its drag&drop functionality. You must have the development module installed and active.
Finally, I would suggest you to start familiarizing with Axapta in a 2-tier environment to test its architecture.
Best regards,
Andrea

Oggetto: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Introduction...

Hello All!

My Name is Brandon - I am a Software Engineer from Georgia, U.S. I was invited by someone to join this group. Our company is implementing Axapta right now, and I am part of the Development / Support / Admin team for it. This is my first exposure to axapta, but I have been developing software for years - I am a C# for Windows / Web / Mobile Developer, and I can't wait to start diving into X++ and Axapta.

Anyway I do have a few questions:

(1) Has anyone ever tried to store projects / objects etc. into VSS (Visual Source Safe)? We are wanting to continue to use VSS for our version control just like we use it for the rest of our projects.

(2) Does anyone know of a User Import Util that will import users from The active directory and create users in axapta for them?

(3) I am wanting to create a Collection of Table or a Table Collection. Is there a such thing in Axapta? If so how does one go about doing that?

thanks,
-Brandon

P.S. I will be launching a new website called www.axaptajobs.com which will focus on connection companies with axapta pros! It's under construction but look for it soon!
