Connecting through BizTalk is generally a bad idea for
reporting purposes because of the asynchronous architecture under which BizTalk
works best. I am sure it is possible, but cumbersome and slow.
Instead, a direct database connection is preferred as Cognos supports this out
of the box.
If it is Impromptu, look here for more information:
http://www.cognos.com/products/series7/impromptu
With regards to the OLAP in 3.0, Cognos offers BI reporting
that may complement OLAP, but in most cases, OLAP should not be needed -- Cognos
Impromptu BI can actually stand on its own

Subject: Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Business Analysis: Cognos and Axapta
I think you can connnect cognos with Axapta through some middleware like
Biztalk server or webmethods. i have worked on such a project which was actually
BILL PAYMENT AND PRESENTMENT, in which checkfree was performing the actual
transaction (payment gateway ) and axapta was looking the back office stuff.
Ofcourse this arrangement must require interface design.

Dear all,
Is there anyone that has experience with using Cognos in combination
with Axapta.
How does this relate to the Axapta 3.0 business analysis tool (using
OLAP)?

Danny
