Most USB scanners will go put the scan as if 'keyboard input' (you of course can have keyboard also attached). So just put cursor on field and scan, it will be same as if you typed. Most scanners allow you to set up that append to end of scan is a 'Enter' or 'Tab' key.
Non USB might need to serial port hardware or software to take the serial port and make it into keyboard entry (otherwise you would have to program Ax to take input from serial port!) What exactly are you scanning? Item id barcode or barcode that contains several bits of info (if this then of course you have to program that when Axapta gets the input it can split up the info and process it how you want).
