AX is online (everything happens at the time the user presses the button to do something) The only thing that is 'batch' is the inventory closing/recalcualtion (some ppl might argue that such a thing makes all of AX batch because you have to rely on the closing to be sure of the cost of items but in general 99% would say Axapta is online processing)
