Familiar 0.8.4 is too old for recent kernels. Last kernel version which booted Familiar GPE for me was 2.6.18 (OPIE did boot with .19). I guess, you really could cooperate/use work of Patrick Steiner who works on adding aximx50 support to OE.dev in the meantime.
