Hi all,
please note that MMC/SD card support is broken in kernel 2.6.20 for some
configurations (Axim X51v + my SD card for example :-( ).
See http://www.uwsg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0702.1/2175.html for
more information.

Well, after something like 51 attempts (arg !), I finally succeeded in
building angstrom-gpe-image with linux 2.6.19-hh12...
I created an Angstrom rootfs on a SD card, but I am not able to boot it.
And of course no message at all but the kernel boot. Not even a
"/sbin/init not found".
As I use the same kernel with Debian, I think it is a kernel
configuration pb, and I verified root=<foo> and fstab.
More : qemu can not execute Angstrom programs.
I verified the binary endianess with objdump, but it seems ok.
Does someone has an idea about that ?

hi,
i have booted the angstrom bootstrap images in 2 different ways now.
1: initramfs
build a cpio.gz image (IMAGE_FSTYPES = "cpio.gz" in you local.conf)
but the zImage + angstrom.cpio.gz + haret.exe + default.txt onto you sd card
(vfat formated). and boot it. default.txt should look like this:
set GAFR(34) 1
set GAFR(35) 1
set GAFR(37) 1
set GAFR(39) 2
set GAFR(40) 2
set GAFR(41) 2
set GPDR(34) 0
set GPDR(35) 0
set GPDR(37) 0
set GPLR(34) 1
set GPLR(35) 1
set GPLR(37) 1
set GPLR(39) 1
set com "1"
set kernel "zImage-2.6.20-hh1+cvs20070224-aximx50-20070224164343"
set initrd "Angstrom-bootstrap-image-test-20070224-aximx50.rootfs.cpio.gz"
set mtype "740"
set cmdline "root=/dev/ram0 rw
ip=10.0.0.2:10.0.0.1:10.0.0.1:255.255.255.0:axim:usb0:none
console=ttyS0,115200n8 console=tty0 ramdisk_size=32768 rdinit=/sbin/init
psplash=false"
boot
2: rootfs-on-sd
this method also works with a gpe image, the other method doesn't boot gpe for
me.
more infos are available here:
http://userpage.fu-berlin.de/~zabel/magician/README
and the default.txt is available here:
http://userpage.fu-berlin.de/~zabel/magician/default.txt
replace boot2 with boot
the angstrom gpe images boots only via the ext2-on-sd method for me.
i´ll try to build a nice working gpe image (incl. touchscreen support) and
post it on my webspace...

No, I think it is ok.
On the other hand, I did not verify the behavior of aximx50_ts with
.freq = 100000
It may be required to replace it by .freq = 1850000 in aximx50_ts.c,
but I think that's all.
Now, a simple way to verify it is working is to verify the debug output
of the kernel, or to enable printk line 167 in
drivers/input/touchscreen/ts-adc-debounce.c :
} else {
printk("%04d %04d\n", (int)ts_pos.xd, (int)ts_pos.yd);
report_touchpanel(ts, ts_pos.xd, ts_pos.yd, 1);

Great ! It is booting now from a SD card, to the touchscreen calibration.
Thanks for your help, Patrick :-)
I have to enable a ttyS0 terminal, and I'll have a look to aximx50_ts.

I did not build any new patch since 2.6.20-hh1. This kernel is up to
date regarding aximx50 touchscreen driver (but it does not mean that it
is working either...).

of course, I'll keep you informed ;-)
BTW, can you tell me where embedded modules are defined ?
Only a subset is available in rootfs.
Finally, the 2.6.20 MMC/SD driver is broken with all my SD cards... :-(
