Hi Camm,

  I fixed that part in Axiom.  It turns out to be a problem in Axiom's
build setup instead of GCL -- as I erroneously suspected earlier.

I would like to support parallel build but that will not happen for
gcl-2.6.8.

The file stat stuff is more urgent.
