I've seen this with older versions of AXIS. 
What version of AXIS are you using?

And specifically, the Arrays example for AXIS 1.2RC3, I think it does
what you are trying to do.

the java2wdsl kills the int[] and makes an int out of it. So i replaced
a glitch with a Showstopper :D.
