Accents

I am using Axis 1.1 in rpc. I have some troubles with accents:

  <name xsi:type="xsd:string">cluLogin</name>
  <value xsi:type="xsd:string">mémè</value> <!-- meme -->
</item>

Is there something to do for axis 1.1 to handle correctly accents?
