Tomcat does not pick up classes from your classpath, so yes, you really do
need to copy xerces.jar into the web/inf lib or lib/common directory if you
wish other web apps to access it.

Subject: new question on installation

hello
I am completely new to axis so please forgive if this is a stupid question.

In the installation guide that comes with beta 1 the authors write that I
should copy xerces.jar to
webapps/axis/WEB-INF/lib
of my tomcat installation.

but I already have xerces.jar installed in
/opt/java
where I keep all my *jar files and all this files
are included in my classpath.

is this enough or do I have to copy xerces.jar to
the WEBINF/lib directory too.

thanks in advance for any answer

regards

markus
