Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I'm hoping for a solid framework for some of the specifics of WSRP (not only auto-generating, but support for portlet instances, configurations, etc). I'm about to try to convince the bosses to do this work and submit it to Apache, rather than completely home-grown.
