You have many ways to do this: The standalone tcpmon application that comes with Axis The SOAPMonitor system that comes built into the Axis server SOAPScope, from MindReef. Very handy tool. Ethereal or some other packet sniffer. Configuring your client or Axis to log messages to disk. I find myself using all of these methods.
