To solve your problem do the following: in the meta-inf directory create a new directory called services in that directory create a file called "org.apache.axis.components.net.SecureSocketFactory" Edit this file with something like: com.mycompany.MyFakeTrustSocketFactory or with some of the ones that come with Axis (depending on JVM): org.apache.axis.components.net.IBMFakeTrustSocketFactory or org.apache.axis.components.net.SunJSSESocketFactory Axis will pick up this setting and use that class as its SecureSocketFactory.
