Hi! I have just commited a pseudo-protocol registry which should ease the implementation of new pseudo-protocols similar to "axkit:". It replaces these specific hacks with one generic solution. Behaviour should not change in any circumstance.
Two providers that use this feature are the XMLDB provider now available from my CVS repository (there was already a hack for it inside axkit which is now gone, too), and my SQL provider from the same site which is still ongoing work...
