Hi all,
I found that very interesting about the bird superstions. Is that strictly an
Azorian superstition?
The reason I ask is because in Madeira and Mainland Portugal you find birds
depicted on just about everything. From embroidered tablecloths, painted
pottery and even clothing to their lone brightly painted national "bird figure"
that is supposed to bring you good luck ( which you see in the form of magnets
everywhere.) I even saw "folk figure" dolls that had birds resting on top of
the heads of women.
I really don't know what type of bird it is they use but it almost looks like
a cross between a chicken, duck and a pheasant. You see these birds everywhere.
