I have a gggrandmother Angelica Rosa Carmo b. 1839 in Candelaria, Pico and she was the daughter of Jose Rosa Peixoto b. 1808 and her mother was Mariana Luisa Nunes.....Angelica also had a sister who was Mariana Luisa Carmo.....the next time I see this name is 1755, Candelaria ...Maria Antonia Carmo.....so I also think it's a middle name although my gggrandmother didn't use any surname other than Carmo and my cousin just married a man with the last name of Carmo.......
