Does it mention any Isabel's siblings on the newspaper?

Hi, I do have her obit from the newspaper and a copy of her death certificate.
So I don't think that is them.  Even though the names are close.  Vivian

Hi,

Those records are here
http://pg.azores.gov.pt/drac/cca/ig/registos/default.aspx?concelho=22

I don't know hat to think!! I found your first email very confusing. Isabel
wasn't widowed when seh married Primo.

The ones i'm talking about married in the Azores but it looks like you say they
married there!!!!!

Do you have Isabel's obituary from newspaper?

Marcio,  That does sound like it is them.  How did you find that info?  I
always thought that Frank Holmes was their father as that is what they put on
the death certificates, and her social security record.  My Grandmother Marie
Holmes wrote a book and in the front of the book it is decaticated and reads
"In memory of my marvelous Father and Mother, Elizibeth and (Primo Sousa) Frank
Holmes, one of the innocent who suffered for the wicked. But the end of such
ruthless deeds has come! Right and Truth shall win all battles."

I read this to say that Frank Holmes was her father and he died and Isabel her
mother remarried Primo?  But I am not sure now?  What do you think?  In the
1930 census for Hanford, Calif. one question was how old were you at first
marriage and they put 40 for Primo and 42 for Isabel. So I did the math and
figured she married about 1885 or 1888.  Which would have been before my grand
mother was born.  So why did all the children use the last name of Holmes and
put Frank Holmes as their father and Isabel Enos as their mother?  She also
told my mother that when they came over to the US no one could pronounce their
name which sounded like Omens so they changed it to Holmes.  Maybe I am trying
to put to much in the fact they put Frank Holmes as their father.  It could be
they did not want anyone to know they were portuguese.  They also put that they
were all born in the U.S. and I know they were not.  My grand mother also used
to say we were
related to the Sousa's but never told me her mother and father's last name was
Sousa.

I don't know what to think now.  It is hard to know why they did some of the
things they did when they came to this country?  Except I have heard that back
then in Calif. none of the children put down that they were portuguese.  Only
that their parents were portuguese.

Let me know what you think?

Thanks to you and to everyone that answered my questions for all their help.  I
really do appreciate your knowledge and help.
