Diane>> Diane, I've been periodically working on a guide to help navigate the site. There's just not enough hours in the day, it seems, but I'll keep plugging away at it. The CCA site can be found here: http://pg.azores.gov.pt/drac/cca/ig/ There will be some promising databases with time. Right now, there are the genealogical manuscripts "Manuscritos Genealogicos" online (4 books, all in the Portuguese language). I know that the Carlos Machado one has been computerized by Father Joe Viveiros and is in Gedcom format. This covers mainly Sao Miguel and Santa Maria islands and can be ordered through George Pacheco at bretanha1954 at gmail dot com. He'll tell you the cost and shipping info. Fr. Joe doesn't have Internet access. I don't know about the other three. Then there's the "Registos Paroquias" which is basically the vital records. This is a work in progress, so only a few islands and freguesias are online at this time (Corvo, Flores, and Sao Jorge islands). I don't know the completeness of these records. Next, we can see the "passaportes" (emigration out of the Azores) for the port on Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel island. These records are incomplete. The colorized maps from the main page are useful as each freguesia is colored in a different color. NOTE: This site only works with Internet Explorer (IE) and Safari.
