Hello John, The films in the FHC for Ribeirinha, Ribeira Grande only go to the year 1883. That was all they could film up to because of the 100 year rule (they were filmed in 1983-5). I have not tried the site so I am not familiar with it but in order to get your names to the records prior to 1883 you will have to request the record of birth or marriage as needed to get to names that could be looked up in the filmed records. When you do get the names let me know as I already have many on my data base. Rick listed that his FHC has films for Ribeirinha on Sao Miguel island (there's more than one Ribeirinha in the Azores). What site are you trying to get your mother-in-law's birth from? What year was she born? I think the Filiacao means who are her parents, but I'd have to see the site to be sure.
