Hi Rosemarie, Cheri, & Jason,

Thanks for the help!

That Italian Group is how I actually found Alfred. They have a great
database! I just didn't expect to find an Italian name as an ancestor.
Alfred was born about 1872 on Faial. So I assumed his parents were from
there too.

Were there a lot of Italians in the Azores?

Alfred Viera and Amelia A. (Silva) Viera were married on Faial sometime in
the early 1890's. They came over to the US in May 1902 on the Penisular
with about 7 children. They lived in New Bedford from 1902-1928, and then
moved to Brooklyn New York with some of their children and their families.

I called St. Johns cemetery in Brooklyn and they were able to give me some
information on Amelia Viera, being buried Nov. 4 1959 aged 88. I will have
to send off for her death record now.

They were buried with an Elizabeth Viera aged 10 years. I assume this was a
granddaughter. I know so little about the families that moved away from New
Bedford.

Thanks again for all the help,

Steven
