The document No 1, Joao Perfilhado, translates to Joao Legitimized. A point of interest: In the portuguese culture when a person was perfilhado/legitimized it may have not necessarily be by his/her true parent. In the name of "honour" some person usually a relative would give his name to another through the act of legitimazation to allow that person to go forward in society.
