Lucille, from Latin Lucilla, is Lucila in standard Portuguese (variant with
double L is common); Lucilla is derived of Lucia, a kind of diminutive, but
it's a different name, like Luciola, Luciana, Lucina, Lucinda, all from same
root Luc-, Latin lux "light" , Lucia's Portuguese older form was Luzia.

Cheri, Carlos, Rosemarie Jesse, Margaret, Joao & Lina;
Many thanks for your translations! I think perhaps, the various names you
have given me for Lucille in Portuguese are different spelling variations during
different periods of history? Does that make sense? Thanks again to
all, Sam in CA J
