Jessie,

My Grandfather was also named Joao Moniz Pacheco. He married my grandmother Rosa da Conceicao Reis form Faial da Terra, both of them never came to America, but most of there Children did! That would defiantly coincide with your dates. I think the problem we all run into repeatly is the names, they are all very similar. Its enough to confuse anyone.
I will keep my ears open for any information I come across.

Wow, thank you everyone, its great to finally get some possible
connections for this brick wall!

Carolyn:
Unfortunately that's just about all of the information I have. Jose and
Maria had a son, Joao, who married Maria da Resuricao Andrade from Lagoa.

Betty:
Hm, there could be a connection here but I think Nordeste is too far
from Ponta Delgada for us to have a match right here. I don't know much
about this family though, and their son DID marry a woman from Lagoa so
it's a big possibility that there was some movement by them around the
island. Their son, my ancestor, is the only child of theirs I know of as
of now.

Maria:
I'm not sure if Joao and Rosalina ever came to America but I know their
son Joao came in about 1902. I've spent hours and hours searching for
his immigration information but cannot locate it for him or his wife.

Iris:
I don't know the parish but for some reason I remember having thought
it might be Sao Jorge at one point. But I have no idea whether or not
that is so. I will keep you in mind though, and will most likely send an
updated post if I find more information.
