Hi Margaret,

There is an error on my yesterday´s message. Sorry.

The word written is :  MARIANTE, and not marianse as I stated.

As per my Portuguese Encyclopedia  Lello dated  1922 :

MAREANTE : (adjective)  one who "marea" (who sails).
                    (substantive) seaman.,

Mareante or mariante means the same and priests would use
either one with the same meaning. However, "mareante " would
be the correct spelling.

Hello Group,
Could someone please take a look at the word after Sebastiam Teyxeira and let me know what that means?  He is my 6th GGfather on my paternal side.
I think I know what it might mean but I don't wish to draw any conclusions without some of your expert advice.
Thank you.
Margaret Vicente
