Thank you to all of you for the condolences via emails and e-cards. We appreciate you kindness.
Rick, It's interesting that you mention the "list of hymns"......this was the one small loose end drama at Mom's funeral. She had chosen 4 songs and provided sheet music for 3 of them, Ave Maria, On Eagles Wings and Panis Angelicus but her 4th choice, Mother at Thy Feet is Kneeling had no music......I called our Chorale director in Arkansas who is catholic and she said the piece was very old and she had no idea where we could find music......oddly enough I could sing the tune and part of the words. My sister found it on ebay but we couldn't get it in time. Two of my sisters went to an antique store in Ft. Worth that had a huge amount of hymnals and loose sheet music and after going through old dusty boxes for several hours they found the piece! Written in 1949 and popular throughout the 50's which must be when I learned to sing it with the church choir! The woman who sang at the funeral had a lovely voice and so it was all quite perfect! It is a joyful thought to know she died with Jesus in her heart and is now with the saints in heaven. As a choir member I frequently sing at funerals and we are sometimes given a list of what hymns to sing as requested by the family. Occasionally we get a list requested by the deceased. To have a funeral of over 300 attendees is a tribute to your mother’s care and love for others. She was 81 years old. She was a very good mother and we will all miss her humor and strong opinions! She was a descendant of Sao Jorge people on both sides with the exception of a Pico grandmother. Her family came from many states to be with her.....she always loved it when we all gathered together. She was delighted with the genealogy discoveries I've been able to share with her and said she couldn't wait to tell my Dad about the newest discovery that George Pacheco found when she got to heaven! (I recommend George if you want to hire a researcher)....(Dad's grandmother, Caterina Cabral, from Santa Maria, goes back to Dom Afonso lll). She was a people person and would have loved her funeral......over 300 people there and the processional was so long you couldn't see the end. She completely organized her funeral down to the last detail as befitting an executive secretary! Nancy Jean Baptista The New Busy is not the too busy. Combine all your e-mail accounts with Hotmail.
