My Dad Clarence Vieira Valine died peacefully on May 31, 2010.
Below OBIT from Porterville Recorder Sandra Valine Dauer

Clarence V. Valine was called to the Lord on Monday, May 31, 2010. Clarence was
born on July 14, 1919 in Dinuba and was a lifelong resident of Tulare County.

A rosary and funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 beginning at 1
PM at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Porterville with graveside services
immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville.

Clarence is the son of Manuel and Carolina Valine who immigrated to Tulare
County from Lajes do Pico, in the Azores Islands.

Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary C. Valine, his
children, Sandra Dauer, Rod Valine (Margie) and Jeff Valine (Diane). Clarence
was also blessed with 5 Grandchildren, 1st Lt. Christopher Valine, USAF, Ashley
Valine, Scott Valine, Laura Valine and Jason Dauer (Dena) and 2
great-grandchildren, Jared and Sydney Dauer.

Clarence was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph, his sister Mary and his
son-in-law, John Dauer. Surviving siblings are sisters Elsie Hylton and Olivia
Dores.

Clarence served in the US Army from 1942-1946, including a tour of service as
an MP in post-WWII Korea. He was extremely proud of his life membership in the
American Veterans Post 56 and the American Legion, as well as being a former
member of the Porterville Breakfast Lions and the Luso-American Fraternal
Federation.

As a 2nd generation Tulare County farmer and rancher for over 60 years,
Clarence produced crops ranging from grapes, barley, cotton, sugar beets,
watermelons, alfalfa, prunes and various other products until his retirement in
1975. Clarence and his wife were also strong supporters of the 4-H Clubs and
Porterville Fair, which included being founding members and of the Rockford 4-H
Club in 1957 and project leaders for 25 years.

In retirement, Clarence enjoyed collecting antique farm equipment, toy
tractors, farm caps and Lions Club pins, playing cards and games with his
family and friends, vacationing in Pismo Beach, enjoying his grandkids and
rooting for his favorite baseball team, the Dodgers.
