I look forward to more guidance. I have done the easy research through Ancestry. It perplexes me that with 11 Children born in the US I can't find a birth, marriage or death certificate in the states alone. If you don't know where someone married, or gave birth, how do you find records. County Vital Records ask that you pay for data before you know if they have what you need.

Then the one link I was referred to for records in San Jorge are in Portuagese. Maybe I just at a big pause to find someone in the states that is part of this lineage, and stumped to go backwards until I find someone in the states still alive that knows something more than I do that might get me going again.

I keep thinking that if I can actually fully investigate/document just one person in my tree that the doors will open...guess I am just a bit frustrated right now.

Thank you for your input.

Adair

Adair,
One thing I did once I knew the village where my folks were from, I started working backwards in time and writing down all the marriages and baptism I found that had my family name. That's how I got my direct line and some branches as well. I'm putting all in a book, which I hope to print this year. It's detective work and fun.
