My maiden name is Peters, but my father's ancesters came from Candalaria Pico Azores and while there they had the name Pedro Faria Des Neves. When they came to this country they changed the name to Peters as there were too many people settled in the Sacramento area with Neves. Sorry not to be of help to you.
