The text is dubious: Francisco is surely son of Francisco, but it's not clear
if Joana was only his father's wife or his mother. And I have doubts if the
surname was Espinoza or Espinola. Looks like Espinoza, but Espindola
Bettencourt is a common combination.

Assunto: [AZORES-Genealogy] Help with translation re: padrinos

would someone mind looking at the padrinos in this record and tell me
if I'm reading it right?  The first record on the top right page.

http://pg.azores.gov.pt/drac/cca/biblioteca_digital/SJVVB1660-1700/SJVVB1660-1700_item1/P305.html

What I think it says is this -
Padrinos, captain Francisco de Espinosa & betencourt son of Captain
Francisco Pirez Machado and D. Joanna, wife of Captain Francisco Pirez
Machado.
Would I be correct in thinking that Francisco Espinosa de betencourt
is also the son of D. Joanna?

thanks, Suzanne
