Hello and thank you for hosting this group. I'm enjoying reading the entries about your ancestors. My ancestors were two brothers from the Island of Flores. The story goes that they changed their last name to Norton because a Captain on a ship "adopted them" or at least took care of them while sailing to America or the British Columbia Gulf Islands. According to the story they were 12 or 13 years-old at the time. John Norton was known to be one of the first settlers on Salt Spring Island in 1859. Some records list or mention a possible last name being Dalrvero. Delarvo- something like that. Signing out. Melanie Kay.
