Thanks for posting this E.

I've been researching Manuel Silva Nevis for about seven years. My brother
bought the Nevis House at 1822 R st and beautifully restored it. The H R
Edgar Institute named for my father. The family business Edgar &
Associates and several others operate there. The winery was across the
street.

What the article doesn't mention is that prior to the winery , Manuel was a
master carpenter and did much of the endlessly detailed interior woodwork
himself. It's also suggested by Lionel Holmes in the book "Portuguese
Pioneers of Sacramento" that the Nevis name was adopted from a ship captain
that Manuel worked for. The mention of the Azevedo's as cousins is a new
angle for me to pursue.

I currently working on a historical property registry application for the
site. I've contacted the articles author for collaboration.
