ANOTHER SUCCESS STORY!
I AM VERY HAPPY TO REPORT THAT I HAVE FOUND MY FATHER'S FIRST FAMILY,
and in less than a month! After having found some very important
documents on Ancestry.com, my real success was through THIS Azores
Genealogy group. E Sharp in California "adopted" me immediately (See
her entries below.) and provided me with all sorts of leads.

One of these leads was an obit that led me to a woman who turned out
to be the widow of my cousin. This widow then got me to my deceased
cousin's other cousin who turned out to be my half-sister, the only
remaining child from my father's first family. She is still alive and
at 92 is living in MA. Her daughter, my half-niece, contacted me and
we have already established a close bond. After the family circulated
the info among the whole family, I heard from 2 more half-nieces.
Everyone I've heard from has been very gracious, warm and receptive to
the surprise info that I've provided them. (To this point, everyone
thought that my father, their grandfather, had died long ago. They
didn't know about me and his second family.) We have exchanged family
pictures, have seen family resemblances, and have made tentative plans
to visit here in VA and in MA. Everyone wants to keep the new bigger
family connected.

I continue to be absolutely amazed at how this has worked for me -
first finding out that my father had another family decades before I
was born and then finding the family. I can't say enough good things
about how this Azores genealogy site works! I thank all of you who
have responded with good information. And I can't thank E Sharp
enough for her help with this search. I could never have accomplished
this without her!

Good luck to all of you in your searches. If there's any way I can
help you, I'd be happy to try. As for me, I'm off to the Azores next
summer to visit a cousin who still lives there!

Thankfully, and still in shock,
Lorraine
