Perhaps the most interesting revelation in Isabel's baptismal registo is that her godmother was the daughter of one Francizco Joze Furtado of Ponta da Fajã Grande, because among a packet of family letters mailed to Isabel as an old lady in California in the first half of the 1900s -- letters from Ponta that my family had saved, and that my aunt gave to me just before her death -- was at least one mentioning a person with the surname Furtado, who I inferred must have been some sort of relative (perhaps a direct or collateral descendant of Isabel's godmother). Now I will need to dig out that letter and reread it closely for further information and/or clues!
