Querido Hermano, Thank you so much for all your help!!! I stand in
awe of your deciphering talents in figuring out some really difficult
penmanship.

Perhaps the most interesting revelation in Isabel's baptismal registo
is that her godmother was the daughter of one Francizco Joze Furtado
of Ponta da Fajã Grande, because among a packet of family letters
mailed to Isabel as an old lady in California in the first half of the
1900s -- letters from Ponta that my family had saved, and that my aunt
gave to me just before her death -- was at least one mentioning a
person with the surname Furtado, who I inferred must have been some
sort of relative (perhaps a direct or collateral descendant of
Isabel's godmother). Now I will need to dig out that letter and
reread it closely for further information and/or clues!

Mais uma vez, muito obrigada, Katharine.
