Following a brief illness, Mr. Manuel Correia Silva, 89 years of age
and a native of Graciosa, Azores, who resided in this country for 75
years, died yesterday at his residence, 14 Columbia Street in this
city.

The deceased was married to Mrs. Laura Mendonça Silva, whom he leaves
a widow, and was employed as a barber, having retired many years ago
to private life.  Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. Mary Burke of New Bedford and Anna Keyes of Fairhaven; two sons,
Leonard of North Dartmouth [MA.] and Dr. M. Curtis of Providence, RI;
seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nephews
and nieces.

His funeral will be held next Thursday, with the funeral procession
leaving the Williams Funeral Home, 1 Washington Square, at 7 AM for
St. John the Baptist Church, where a [sung?] Requiem Mass will be
celebrated starting at 7:45 AM, [then] the body will be buried in the
family plot in St. John cemetery.

Guests are respectfully invited to greet relatives and friends of the
deceased.  Viewing hours, 2-5 and 7-10 PM.

Last Saturday the wedding of Leonard Correia Silva of New Haven,
Conn., and Catherine Virginia Mullarkey of this city was performed at
St. James Church, the ceremony having been conducted by Rev. Father
Walter J. Buckley.
