Here is what I know about them: My Grandfather: Manuel Mendes Ferreira, Jr. b 1891 (San Sebastian, Terceira) - his parents: Constancia (Dos Angos Toste) and Manuel Mendes Ferreira, Sr d 18 Apr 1923 (Tuberculosis, Eureka, Humboldt County, California)
My Grandmother: Maria Candida b 17 Dec 1900 (although several gov docs have 18 Dec 1900 or 1901 -- same person, just variations) - her parents: Frances Candida and Joaquin Sousa (or Souza depending on the person transcribing the doc) d 5 Jan 1978 (as Maria C. Nunes having remarried Joaquin Nunes) (Ferndale, Humboldt County, California) Arrived Ellis Island, NY, together aboard the Fabre Line SS Roma on 13 October 1920.
