Thanks Cheri, so far I've only done research on Ancestry.com and some on
google.

Here's what I have found on my husband's relatives so far:

Augustine Joaquin AlvesBorn: about 1870 Sao Jorge, Azores, Portugal
Died: 1947, California

His wife:
Maria Elvira BorbaBorn: 1885 in São Jorge, Azores, Portugal
Died?

Francisco de Sousa MendesBirth abt 1860 in Terceira, Portugal

His wife:
Rosa Delfina Constança Born: 1860 in Portugal (Can't find an exact area)
We'd love to go back farther generations, but haven't found much.

Thanks so much,
Krysta Alves
