The same thing has happened to me. So I lopped off all but the most recent 
generations on my "public" tree and made my more extensive tree private. I 
tried to go back and do something about my pictures, but I found once you've 
uploaded them and someone links to them you are out of 
luck!

Contacting them did no good. One person wanted ME to explain why we were not 
related. I think they just grab every link Ancestry presents. 

I've done as Pam suggests and left a comment, hoping others will be more 
discerning. 

It's really frustrating.
