Francisco Tavares, b. 14-11-1872 in Bretanha, son of José Tavares (b. 1-Apr 1833 in Bretanha) and Maria de Jesus (b. in Ginetes in 1832, according to their marriage record: Bretanha-26 Mar 1854), grandson of Francisco Tavares (b. 21-2-1807 in Bretanha, married in Bretanha on 16-11-1825) and Ana do Espírito Santo (b. in Bretanha on 19-2-1806) and André Carvalho (born in Bretanha, likely married in Ginetes and died before May 1870) and Jacinta Rosa (b. in Ginetes). Francisco Tavares married: Maria do Carmo Arruda (b. 1873, maybe in Bretanha) on 13 Feb 1893 in Bretanha. She is the daughter of Manuel Arruda de Oliveira Cabral (b. 1842 in Capelas according to his marriage record, and married in 24-6-1665 in Santo António além Capelas) [See, Miguel Soares da Silva, Registos Paroquiais de Casamentos da Freguesia de Santo António além Capelas (1607-1673; 1699-1718; 1729-1800; 1901-1850; 1851-1910] and Rosa Cândida Maurício ( b. 1844 in S. António according to her marriage record), granddaughter of José Jacinto Arruda and Francisca de Jesus (both of Capelas); José Maurício Raposo (b. abt 1804 in Bretanha and married there on 20 Apr 1828) and Francisca de Jesus (of Bretanha). Do not worry about the slight variations in the names. Maria do Carmo arrived in the US on 12-Apr-1912 in Providence on the "Roma". I have the following children for Francisco Tavares and Maria do Carmo: Maria was born on 7 Dec 1893 in Ajuda Bretanha, São Miguel, Açores. Rosa was born on 15 Mar 1895 in Ajuda Bretanha. Manuel was born on 4 Jun 1897 in Ajuda, Bretanha. Francisco was born on 5 Sep 1899 in Ajuda, Bretanha. Eufrozina was born on 12 Aug 1901 in Ajuda Bretanha. Manuel Arruda Travers was born on 8 Jun 1904 in Ajuda, Bretanha, and died on 24 Jun 1950 in Pacoag, Rhode Island. He married Loretta Catherine Hutchinson on 31 Jan 1927 in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Jose was born on 26 May 1906 in Ajuda, Bretanha. Angelina was born on 24 Jun 1908 in Ajuda,Bretanha. I have done some extensive research on Bretanha families. Your line goes back many generations and by the time you are done researching Maria do Carmo's line a 4 generation per page pedigree will run about 900 pages. Since retiring earlier this year I have been researching genealogy professionally.
