Re Oakland: Just curious whether anyone here knows if the owners of the Louis Stores (a few grocery stores in Oakland and Berkeley in the mid-20th century) -- as well as Vern's Market at 50th Street and Telegraph Avenue in Oakland (allegedly run by a son) -- were owned by Portuguese-Americans.
