Hi Manoel,

That is the best definition and it makes the most sense.

Hi Doug,

Imagine a couple that is married for a long time yet, 20, 25 five years or
so, with all their siblings, the young one with 10 or more years old and
they don´t wait for anymore child. Then the woman gets pregnant and a new and
unexpected baby is born to the family.

This child is a serôdio or seródio, a 'filho temporão', as we say here in
Brazil. That's why the word originally does mean "later fruit".

Hi Eliseu,

Do you mean that he was born past his due date?

Or something more vague like a throw back to another time?

How about someone who was always late in all things they do? That might be
everyone who pays no attention to a time schedule, as we've been reading in
other messages.

Maybe it's someone born premature and therefore late in developing, as the
Google definition mentioned. If someone was very premature, that might be
something warranting such an alcunha.

Thanks for the correction on the accent mark.

Hi!

SERÔDIO (not seródio) has in itself the main idea of LATE, OUT OF HIS OWN
TIME. As an example, could be used to refer to someone who has born out oh
it’s natural time.

Also, could be used in the “bad” way meaning someone “retarded” or someone
who was very slow in doing things…

In the agricultural sense it would be applied to what comes after the right
time…

Being very common as a surname it is expectable that it refers to someone
who has born out of is proper time.

Hope it helps!
