Hi John and Eric,
Since there is interest in this, here are some more details.
Manuel Furtado da Burra's wife was Maria de São José, already deceased by 25 Sep 1815 when her daughter married.
I have the feeling that as time progresses, I might find one or both of them having died in Terceira.
Yea, it's unlikely their descendants would move back to Lomba and then link to others from Lomba today, but it did happen here and there.
I think I have a few from Santa Cruz, Flores like that. And I have many from Faial like that. Also from Graciosa and São Jorge like that.
Come to think of it, also many from São Miguel who did that.
I do know of at least one descendant born in Terceira in 1856.

John VasconcelosMy father was from Lomba and my research there has been very frustrating on my paternal grandmother's line. I've only been able to go back 5 generations since all records before the mid 1800's for Lomba are lost. A cousin who still lives there recalls stories of a church fire.
Doug's find offer's a possible (although unlikely in most cases) way for Flores researchers to extend their family trees. On Sun, May 19, 2013 at 12:28 PM, eric edgar <noblankt...@gmail.com> wrote:Doug,I've searched all my Flores resources without finding a Burra record.
