Hi Diane, On my Pereira side from Velas my gggrandmother, Isabel de Jesus, had her last child when in her 50's....she had 11 or 12 children. I don't have all my records with me now since I'm in Pico, but I remember being amazed at the time at how old she was when giving birth the final time. I have 2 friends who had their 1st and only babies at 42. My mom and I were pregnant at the same time....I was 19 and she was 43. My brother and my son could be twins! Many very fertile women! I also don't know how she decided to look at the records for that time period for Maria since she does have a record for the husband Pedro that indicates he was baptized in 1650. It seems more likely that Maria would have a birth date closer to his. I am hoping that the age of Maria at death will point to a birth year I can search. I am reluctant to contact the owner of the tree directly with the these questions because I am not sure I can convey them in Portuguese which appears to be her language.
