I hope William Monk is still around. I wish I had seen this earlier. I am
related to almost every Portuguese family that lived in Kilauea in 1900. I
am related to these Freitas Bras. My grandfather's cousin, Manoel
"Pushking" Pacheco married Carolina Freitas. They raised their family in
King City, but both were natives of Kilauea. Carolina was Joao de Freitas
(aka Freitas Bras) and Maria Gonsalves Cardoso. Maria's sister Joana,
married my Great Great Uncle, Joao Pacheco (she remarried after his death
to Januario Fernandes)

Joao and Maria's children were Manuel, Maria, Joe, Francisca, Carolina,
Antonia, and Antone.

I was in contact with Carolina's son, Joe Pacheco, for several years. But,
his wife got very ill and they had to move. No one seems to know where
they are now.

Anyway, William, if you are still interested, I have some information on
this family.
