It is true those populations contributed to the DNA of the Portuguese people,Gedmatch Eurogenes 36 will pick all that up. However the oracle admixture calculators using a primary and secondary populations should weed out that ancient admixture from skewing the results. If I recall the Roman historian Pliny the Elder identified all but 1 of the tribes in the borders that constitute modern day Portugal is either Celtic or Celticized, only one the Grovii were identified as Greek, the Grovii. Those Celtic tribes may have origins near the Alps. I think their contribution was significant. On one calculator Switzerland shows as my primary #1 population. Although my results consistently show a strong affinity with Italian populations sometimes more so than Iberian populations. Although ancient DNA contributions from the Romans, and Celts can explain some of that I should still show a tighter match to Portugal than I do unless I have some admixture, which I believe is the case.
The MDLP K23b Calculator is considered by many who have used it as the most accurate although it is far from perfect. The four populations it uses to approximate for ancestry I like to think of it in terms of four grandparents. The calculator kicks out the four populations that are closest to my blend of DNA. As my closest match it suggests two Iberian populations, English (which is very similar to the Flemish) and Sicilian(which the Gedmatch calculators sometimes have trouble distinguishing from Ashkenazi Jews). Sometimes it suggests other Southern Italian or Greek populations and I believe a couple of times Romanian Jew. However if you notice the closest the calculator gets to my real blend followed by this symbol @ is 1.106954. It is unable to get to zero because my ancestry is more complex that the ancestry of those four populations. I suspect it it that the 5.35% North African(Berber DNA) is a bit high.
