Thanks for the tips and information about the Silveira "neighborhood"! After looking at the Lajes page on the NEPS site, I found a very likely candidate for my third great-grandmother. According to her marriage record in New Bedford, her father was Joseph de Brum and mother was Isabella. I found a Catarina born in 1834, daugher of Jose Brum Alvernaz and Isabel Brum Bettencourt.
According to her marriage record it was her first marriage so it probably wasn't the same Catarina da Conceicao that married in 1849 but thanks for that information!
