Thank you for the wonderful information. You did such an outstanding job of referencing everything. I definitely have a problem that I need to work out because I have the parents of Marcos de Barcelos married to Maria Lopes as the son of Diogo de Barcellos Machado and Catarina Evangelho. I must have merge some people from some where that have caused the problem. I will go back and try to trace where my mistake is located. Thank for the information. I have noted it in my family tree and referenced your research and documentation. I have also removed the information about Mecia being born on the island since she is the woman that gave birth to the first baby being born on Terceira she herself could not have been born there. This information was merged from an online tree and I have removed that reference. My paper copy of my tree gave no birth information. I had mentioned this before (in this google group) to get better control of my documentation I plan to enter everything again into Roots Magic and then keeping Family Tree Maker and Ancestry.com just for searching online. Thus my official and well documented information will only be in Roots Magic. Thank god I do not post my tree online. Who knows what other mistakes I have merged into my tree and who knows how many people would have copied those mistakes and use them as facts in their tree.

The bride's parents each have a word following their names which I can't make out. I see the bride's information as: "...Maria da Fonseca, filha de An.to da Fonseca [unknown word/name] defunto, e de sua molher Catarina [unknown word/name]..." Can anyone suggest what these two words/names are? (as a side question: if these words are nouns or adjectives rather than names, why didn't the groom's parents have similar?) The third area I'd appreciate clarification is with the note about a dispensation of consanguinity. I read that the consanguinity is of the 4th degree, but my grasp of the language isn't sufficient to understand whether the phrase preceding the list of witnesses contains any information of interest or if it is simply standard wording for such cases.
